Shira and Tyler wed at the lovely Beach Grove Golf Club in Tsawassen Beach September 2017. The couple’s chosen colours were purple and green, which fit in perfectly with ThistleBEA. The first look, as well as wedding portraits and photography, all took place on the beach prior to the ceremony. The wedding itself took place under a stunning arch handcrafted by the groom.
The indoor reception featured a candy bar, which was a big hit with the guests! Centerpieces were baskets of flowers in the wedding colours on a moss bed. Due to traffic, some vendors and guests arrived late, but the event proceeded smoothly despite the delay. As Shira came from a Jewish background and Tyler from a Native background, aspects of both cultures were incorporated into the celebration, including blessings performed by their respective families. The groom’s family also welcomed the bride into the family with a blanket ceremony. After the speeches and a round of the Shoe Game, there was also a festive hora (Jewish circle dance). The cake was augmented by cupcakes made by the groom’s sister.
Highlights of the day included beautiful weather, an excellent performance by an originally tentative flower girl, and a chance for the bride to fulfil her dream of riding in a golf cart!
Shira and Tyler made use of ThistleBEA’s A Day In The Life package. Other vendors included In The Mix (DJ), Alex Townsend Photography, Crème Bridal for hair and make-up, Rustic Designs (cake), and SurDel Party Rentals. Flowers were by Lynne Wardrop. Janice Kidwell officiated.
From the bride
We hired ThistleBEA to help with day of coordination for our wedding and it was the best decision! Breanne met with me initially and instantly made me feel comfortable and confident with her services. After our meeting, she was notified that her cousin’s wedding was the same day as ours and she wouldn’t be able to attend ours. She immediately let me know, Winnie, her co-DOC would be available. We had a meeting with Winnie and I could just tell she was going to do a great job the day of. Breanne continued to do all the behind the scenes work (creating a day of timeline and contacting our vendors the week of) and made sure to keep Winnie in the loop the whole time. On the day of, Winnie arrived at our venue at 8:45am and didn’t leave until after my husband and I left for the night! She was always around to make sure we were on schedule and making adjustments to timing as needed throughout the night. She set up all our table decor perfectly, her clean up at the end of the night was great, making sure to keep everything in one spot for our families to collect things if needed. Before hiring ThistleBEA, I wasn’t sure we needed a DOC but it was honestly the best decision we made as it totally helped our day flow smoothly allowing all our guests to just to enjoy the day and making sure myself (and family members) didn’t need to worry about anything! Thank you Breanne for your behind the scenes work and thank you Winnie for being there on the day of!
