From the Archives: This Couple Seamlessly Brought Colour and Love Into Their Wedding Through Design

July 22nd, 2017 marked Jenn and Ashley’s Rainbow and Disney themed wedding. After a First Look at Vanier Park, the couple was married by officiant Linda Cohen at the Museum of Vancouver. The couple’s ‘I Do Crew’ were in navy blue, with the accent colours of their individualized bouquets (arranged by Bride Ashley) and shoes setting the tone for the Disney rainbow affair, which incorporated a sand ceremony. The entire bridal party was included, each pouring sand of their specific accent colour, after which the brides did the same (with navy blue sand for Jenn and white for Ashley), first separately and then together. Giving the ritual their own unique twist, the brides chose a picture frame as the vessel used for the sand ceremony.

The reception was held in the Diamond Ballroom, which was in fortunate proximity to a stunning rainbow wall just off Granville Street. The photographer noticed the opportunity during dinner, allowing Jenn and Ashley the chance to take a quick field trip in order to get pictures against the serendipitously appropriate backdrop. Guests also were able to take in the evening air, as a beautiful view of the sunset over Vancouver was available out on the patio.

The night was highlighted not only by the clearly demonstrated love of the couple’s guests and family, but by a customized rainbow cake made especially for them. The wedding theme was further borne out by the centerpieces: as well as lanterns, the tables were adorned with baby’s breath bouquets tied with Mickey Mouse ribbons. Each table also featured quotes from Jenn and Ashley’s favourite Disney movies.

From the Brides:

My wife and I hired Breanne as a day of coordinator for our wedding mostly so we would know for sure that everything was set up and that was really the only expectation we had. However, Breanne blew us away with her outstanding service and dedication to making this day one of the best of our lives. So many of our guests kept asking, “who is that amazing woman?” Breanne took initiative with every part of our day and I lost count of how many times me or our wedding party said how much we love her. She brought us snacks when we were hungry, assisted people in our families that have mobility issues, had a full arsenal of emergency supplies that we used on more than one occasion over the course of the evening, and did a fantastic job of directing our rehearsal as well as our entrance into the reception hall. And above all else she assisted us on more than just the day of as she was always available via email/phone.She also packed up all our decor and presents and brought them to us the next day. Honestly I felt spoiled having Breanne be apart of our wedding and hiring her as our day of coordinator proved to be the best wedding planning decision we made.
