The couple brought together their interests in film and travel and showcased them in their wedding
August 2017 brought Patrick and Brent’s Burnaby wedding, to great excitement! After a first look at SFU Mountain, not far from the couple’s home, the ceremony took place at The View on Lonsdale. The smoke that had covered the area from the recent wildfires cleared right on time for a perfect view of downtown to be visible from the patio where it was performed.
Owing to traffic, the couple was delayed in arriving by an hour and half, but due to some quick problem-solving by Breanne in opening the bar early, guests hardly noticed, and the timeline was not materially affected, with the meal moved back only half an hour and the speeches being given in between courses!
After the procession, which included the couple’s dog, Barkley, as the ringbearer, Patrick’s grandmother started off the ceremony with a cute story about her grandson before turning the reins over to the officiant.
The family-style meal took place inside, where the tables were each assigned a redesigned movie cover featuring the couple (and Barkley!) in various locations, perfectly combining Brant’s love of cinema with Patrick’s passion for travelling. Berkley, who appeared to enjoy her super-stardom, stayed for dinner before calling it an early night and heading home. The guestbook was also replaced with a redone movie poster – Adventures of Pat and Brent!
The first dance took place to Just Say Yes by Snow Patrol, after which Patrick danced with his mother and a video tribute to Brent’s mom was shown. The couple and their guests proceeded to dance the night away, with an interlude in which they fortified themselves with a midnight snack of one hundred and fifty McDonalds cheeseburgers! Guests with worn out feet could take a turn in the photo booth.
After the reception wound down, Patrick and Brent, along with many of their guests, headed to a nightclub for an afterparty.
Music for the event was provided by Jared Suitor (live) and Mr. & Mrs. DJ (who also were the DJs for Breanne’s wedding!). Food was supplied by Forage Catering, the onsite caterer. Photography was by Sachin Khona and videography by Janelle Huopalainen, who were complemented by Pixstar Photo Booth Rentals. Silver Lady Limousine provided transportation while the beautiful flowers were by Cristy Houston. Patrick and Brent also made use of ThistleBEA’s A Day in the Life package.

Breanne was a complete professional, and a calm presence during our special day. It was so helpful to have her to handle all the day of questions, and challenges. Breanne did an amazing job allowing us to just enjoy our day. If we had any issues they were handled without us even knowing or as soon as they were brought to our attention. Breanne went above and beyond in her role, and always put me and my husband’s needs first and foremost. Everyone should have a Breanne at their wedding.
