BRENDA & JAMES’ GOLF CLUB WEDDING

Moment Captured by Luminessence Photography

From Breanne Dodge

September saw Brenda and James married at the University Golf Club at UBC. On the day of the wedding, tea ceremonies were held for the families of both the bride and groom. Events started with the Chinese tea ceremony held for the bride’s family at the family home, where she wore a wedding dress of traditional red, before changing into a white gown for her walk down the aisle. After the couple’s portraits, taken by a friend who was also a professional photographer, were finished, a similar tea ceremony for the groom’s family was held at the University Golf Club. The wedding itself took place outside at the gazebo on an afternoon that was sunny and beautiful despite anticipated rain.

The reception seated one hundred and eighty guests, and the venue catered. For the décor the bride and groom made use of small mercury votives, as well as artfully chosen books, on which rested small birdcages filled with hydrangeas. The bird cages were surrounded by roses in shades of royal blue and dusty rose. Brenda and James chose to have a candy bar; instead of using bags, guests were provided with custom house-shaped boxed featuring the couple’s name and their wedding date. The reception also featured a photo booth, which the bride admitted to be her favourite part of the wedding! The groom and groomsmen also played the ‘pyramid game’ at the reception, which ended with a kiss between Brenda and James while the latter knelt on a pyramid of groomsmen.

Brenda and James made use of ThistleBEA’s A Day In The Life package. The photography was by Andrew Clauson of Luminessence photography while videography was provided by Levin Shum. Music was by Eddie Rolando of I-DJ Services, who was also responsible for the photo booth, while the backdrop was done by Jonathan Chan. Flowers were by Sylvie You-Bourne. The bride’s hair and make-up were done by Tiffany’s Pro Make-up and the ceremony was officiated by Stephen Cheung. Rentals came from Pedersen’s Rentals.

From the bride

I just wanted to say Breanne did an AMAZING job. I hired Breanne as day of coordinator. The wedding went smoothly. She was so helpful from the wedding planning to the actual wedding day. I did not have to worry about a thing and was able to fully enjoy my wedding. Breanne took care of every little detail. One advice to every bride to be would be to hire a day of coordinator especially Breanne to ensure everything runs smoothly. Breanne went above and beyond and exceeded my expectation. Thank you so much for everything!
